As an Optical Integration Technician, you will apply your skills in optical assembly and alignment to deliver fusion energy. We are looking for our technicians to apply their technical expertise, problem solving skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact the future of energy!
Responsibilities
- Assemble, maintain, and operate laser systems and their subsystems.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot complex optical systems.
- Accurately interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
- Adhere to cleanroom protocols, safety standards, and 5S practices to maintain cleanliness and equipment upkeep.
- Follow documented work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to meet quality requirements.
- Assist with lean manufacturing initiatives and 5S activities.
- Participate in stand-up meetings to communicate progress, issues, or blockers.
- Conduct laser safety audits and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Operate equipment such as overhead cranes (up to 60 feet) and forklifts as needed.
- Keep work areas organized, hazard-free, and compliant with safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams on diverse projects, even outside of standard scope.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally to resolve issues and align with team goals.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to cost, schedule, and technical challenges.
- Provide cross-functional support to the Xcimer manufacturing team as required.
Qualifications
- Experience: Associate’s degree in optics or lasers, or 3+ years of experience with high-power laser systems.
- Proficiency in using a range of optical tools, including measurement and alignment tools (calipers, micrometers, beam profilers, optical power meters, wavefront sensors, and alignment lasers), assembly and cleaning tools, mounting and handling tools, and electrical diagnostic tools (multimeters and oscilloscopes).
- Ability to maintain strict safety protocols while working in laser labs and cleanroom environments.
- Hands-on experience with opto-mechanical assembly and laser alignment.
- Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and strict adherence to safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective time management, organizational, and analytical skills for planning and coordinating work activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, along with strong documentation skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee of granted asylum.
