About the Role
At Vaulted, we have an aggressive plan to rapidly grow our team and subsequent climate impact. As the Regulatory Specialist (Contractor), you will join us on a contract basis through November 30, 2025, to conduct a targeted review and analysis of local, state, and federal regulations with work product including but not limited to tracking and mapping of regulatory comparisons. Responsibilities include:
• Regulatory Research: Identify, review, and interpret local, state, and federal regulations governing zoning, land use, and UIC well permitting across targeted jurisdictions.
• Track / Maintain Data: Develop and maintain a structured tracking system (e.g., database or spreadsheet) to monitor regulatory changes, permitting requirements, and relevant legislative developments. Assist in creating maps, charts, or other visual tools to illustrate regulatory landscapes and support internal presentations or external stakeholder engagements.
• Create Comparative Frameworks: Map and compare regulatory frameworks across jurisdictions to identify patterns, inconsistencies, and strategic opportunities for Vaulted’s project siting and permitting. Produce concise and actionable summaries of regulatory requirements, including timelines, authorities involved, public participation processes, and environmental review obligations.
• Monitor Emerging Policies: Stay informed on evolving regulatory trends in climate policy, carbon management, and environmental permitting that could impact UIC well deployment.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with legal, site acquisition, and business development teams to support project readiness and execution of site development tasks.

What You Will Bring

• JD or formal legal training
• 1–2 years of experience in a role involving regulatory research
• Attention to detail
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Preferred experience working with outside regulatory agencies
• Familiarity with environmental permitting, regulatory tracking, or infrastructure projects preferred
• Passion for and commitment to sustainability and the work of climate change mitigation.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to climate change mitigation in a fast-paced and mission-driven environment. As an independent contractor, your work will directly support the responsible deployment of Vaulted’s deep injection technology and help shape regulatory strategy across key jurisdictions.
This is a full-time, 1099 contract position for individuals authorized to work in the United States. The engagement is expected to run through November 30, 2025, with anticipated compensation of $40 USD per hour for an average monthly compensation of $6400 per month, based on a 40 hour work week.
