About Vaulted
Vaulted is an emerging leader in permanent carbon removal. As a Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS) solution, Vaulted delivers permanent, high quality carbon removal at scale through the geologic sequestration of carbon-filled organic waste.
Vaulted’s approach is designed to be the lowest cost, gigaton scale, permanent carbon removal. We sequester sludgy organic wastes (biosolids, manure, agricultural, food waste, paper sludge, etc.) that today are sent to a landfill, dumped into an ocean/river, land applied, or otherwise left to decompose, releasing Green House Gases (GHGs) into the atmosphere. Vaulted leverages a suite of patented, mature, geologic slurry sequestration technologies which allow us to sequester organic waste with minimal processing. We inject deep under the earth’s surface, where the carbon is permanently trapped under a layer of impermeable rock - the same formations that have kept hydrocarbons underground for millions of years. We have two permitted, operational, facilities allowing us to reach near-term meaningful scale.
Our carbon removal approach goes beyond vaulting carbon. It inherently improves local environmental and human health. In doing so, our operations redress historically unjust waste management practices and advance environmental justice.
Vaulted is backed by leading carbon removal and climate investors, including Lowercarbon Capital, Earthshot Ventures, and WovenEarth Ventures.
About the Role
At Vaulted, we are committed to an ambitious expansion strategy that includes the development of new sites and precise verification of credit generation within our operations. The rate of our expansion and the scalability of our Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) initiatives hinge crucially on our capacity to establish new injection sites across diverse geographical regions and to authenticate the credits generated by our existing operations.
The Subsurface Analyst will be the central hub for gathering, analyzing, and integrating critical surface, environmental, and well data to support engineering studies and location assessments.
This role serves as a key integrator across multiple teams—including subsurface, engineering, project development and business development —ensuring that information flows efficiently between disciplines. You will be responsible for researching and validating high-quality datasets, conducting risk-benefit analyses, and synthesizing findings into actionable insights that directly impact site selection, permitting, and operational strategies.
Beyond technical research and analysis, this role will also support broader business needs, including creating presentations, coordinating events, and handling administrative tasks as they arise. Your ability to adapt to evolving priorities and provide operational support across teams will be critical to our efficiency and execution.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can bridge the gap between data and decision-making. Your work will be instrumental in accelerating deployment by equipping our teams with well-organized, reliable, and strategically relevant data.
In this role, you will:
- Gather and analyze surface, environmental, and well data to support subsurface studies and project development.
- Evaluate risks and opportunities associated with potential injection sites, integrating findings into location assessments.
- Streamline data flow between subsurface, engineering, and project teams, ensuring cross-functional alignment.
- Develop structured reports and presentations that translate complex data into actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
- Optimize data acquisition and management, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across Vaulted’s operations.
- Support business needs, including preparing presentations, coordinating events, and handling administrative tasks as they arise.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the data backbone of one of the most scalable carbon removal solutions in the world. Your work will directly contribute to climate impact by ensuring our expansion is strategic, efficient, and scientifically robust.
What You Will Bring
The Subsurface Analyst will need to be highly adaptable, detail-oriented, and proactive in solving complex data challenges. As a key link between teams, you must be comfortable navigating large datasets, extracting meaningful insights, and effectively communicating findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s or Technical degree in Engineering, Data Science, Geoinformatics, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with geospatial, environmental, and well data.
- A natural ability to synthesize and communicate findings, ensuring insights translate into actionable strategies.
- Experience with data management, visualization, and integration across multidisciplinary teams.
- A proactive, self-driven approach with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
If you are a data-driven problem solver eager to apply your expertise in support of gigaton-scale carbon removal, we encourage you to apply. Join us in vaulting carbon permanently underground and shaping the future of climate solutions.
