Thea Energy is seeking for an experienced, organized, and motivated systems engineer. This position will lead an interdisciplinary team to integrate numerous first-of-a-kind technologies while developing scalable processes and procedures. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the managing requirements, integration, and interfaces for one of the most consequential and cutting-edge technologies of our generation - fusion energy.
The Thea Energy team is comprised of self-motivated, innovative, and collaborative individuals with an excitement for solving complex problems. This is a challenging position that requires a high degree of autonomy, and the ideal candidate must be able to move quickly. A proven track record of leading systems engineering, excellent communication skills, and a passion for new technologies and innovation is required.
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Develop system and interfacing requirements, protocols, and procedures
- Work closely with engineering and physics teams designing various systems to provide engineering coordination and support
- Ensure the efficient and systematic conversion of functional requirements into a scalable system architecture and execution strategy
- Assist in the management of technical, schedule, cost, and performance analysis for various development programs
- Develop and enact protocols to inform clear and efficient decision making processes
- Manage updates and changes to systems and interfaces, and monitor impacts to program schedule, cost, and performance
- Manage system configuration control
- Manage the product breakdown structure
- Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and internal manufacturing engineering teams
- Coordinate design reviews and program management functions
- Institute the processes for, and help run HAZOPS and FMECA programs
- Implement an effective design integration program
- Develop and manage effective processes for making and tracking key decisions
- Develop and implement verification and validation processes
- Implement system design lifecycle management processes
Ideal Experience & Skillsets:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering
- Proven experience integrating large industrial and /or first-of-a-kind R&D projects (e.g. power plants, manufacturing facilities, particle accelerators, etc.)
- Experience across mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems
- Experience with cryogenic, heating, fluid, vacuum, power electronics, and control systems is preferred but not mandatory
- Familiarity with the processes needed to build, test, troubleshoot, and scale complex mechanical and electrical systems
- Leadership of engineering, technical, and scientific teams
- Experience with 3D modeling tools (Siemens NX)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to innovate, execute, and flourish in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional work ethic
- Prioritization of safety above all else
- Ability to wear many different hats
- Team player who is excited to help others
- Ability to occasionally lift objects up to 50 lbs.
