The Role
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented leader to support the operational backbone of our France entity. This role sits at the intersection of People Operations, Payroll, and Compliance ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of our Paris office.
This is a high-impact, execution-focused role responsible for payroll administration, labor compliance, and general support including helping to drive the local team culture, representing the People Operations team on the ground as our establishing member in France, and being the operational backbone of our Paris location. You will partner closely with our global People and Finance teams to ensure local compliance, accuracy, and operational excellence.
This role reports directly to our VP, People & Culture with a dotted line to our GM and Co-Founder.
This role is hybrid from our Paris office.
Key Responsibilities
People Operations & Benefits
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation and systems updates, and local administrative requirements.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers in France on HR operations topics including policies, performance management, training and development, recruitment, payroll, leave administration, and benefits.
- Administration of employee benefits programs in France (mutuelle, meal vouchers, etc.).
- Ensure employment milestones such as probationary periods, contract amendments, and compliance actions are accurately tracked.
- Champion Terabase company culture within the Paris office and help drive culture initiatives locally.
- Partner with the global People team to support consistent employee experience and operational process.
Payroll & Compliance
- Own end-to-end payroll preparation and coordination for the French entity, in partnership with external payroll providers.
- Prepare and validate payroll inputs including new hires, departures, comp changes, leave information, and employee updates.
- Maintain full compliance with French labor laws across the employee lifecycle.
- Coordinate with external advisors and service providers as needed on employment administration and compliance matters.
- Support maintenance of local policies, required workplace documentation, and administrative records.
Finance Operations Support
- Manage local accounts payable processes, including invoice collection, coding coordination, approvals, and vendor- follow up.
- Support expense tracking and budget monitoring for the France entity.
- Coordinate documentation requests and administrative support for external accounting partners and global Finance team.
- Maintain organized operational and financial documentation for the French entity.
Corporate Operations
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Paris office, including vendor coordination and employee support.
- Coordinate relationships with local service providers including insurance, benefits, and operational vendors.
- Event marketing support: logistical coordination for participation in 2-3 regional conferences per year (e.g., Intersolar Munich, WFES Abu Dhabi), including registration management, materials, and support marketing for the team.
- CIR (Research Tax Credit) support: coordination with the CIR consultant for preparation of the application file (information gathering, administrative follow-up, and consolidation of supporting documentation).
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in HR, Accounting, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in payroll, HR operations, accounting, or a combined operations role.
- Strong knowledge of French labor law, payroll practices, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience working with external payroll providers, benefits vendors, or accounting firms.
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on, standalone role within a small or scaling organization.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and across time zones with global teams.
- Fluent in French and professionally proficient in English.
