About the Company:
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing purchasing, production scheduling, and materials management operations within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role is critical in driving continuous improvement from purchase order receipt through shipment of finished products to ensure on-time delivery, operational efficiency, and cost competitiveness. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a background in manufacturing supply chain operations, and experience building collaborative relationships with internal teams and external suppliers. Experience in medical device, aerospace, defense, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing industries is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
Production Scheduling
- Lead and maintain effective production scheduling practices to ensure materials and products are available to meet customer demand while minimizing excess inventory and overproduction.
- Balance department schedules to maintain predictable and efficient manufacturing operations.
- Coordinate with production teams to optimize workflow and delivery performance.
Purchasing & Materials Management
- Manage purchasing activities to ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and outside services required for manufacturing.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while serving as the escalation point for supplier-related issues.
- Maintain supplier records, monitor supplier performance through scorecards, and present performance metrics during leadership reviews.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
Customer & Supply Planning
- Own on-time delivery performance through proactive communication, open-order reporting, and supply planning.
- Support and maintain Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs while identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Manage supply planning activities within the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
- Provide recommendations and strategies to improve operational performance and customer satisfaction.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
- Support and adhere to all Quality Management System requirements and regulated manufacturing standards.
- Promote Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of purchasing, inventory control, production scheduling, and materials planning.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and lead supply chain teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and change management skills.
- Track record of improving on-time delivery and operational performance.
- Experience within regulated manufacturing industries such as medical device, aerospace, defense, or pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
- Working knowledge of cGMP, ISO standards, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and directly related industry experience.
- APICS certifications such as CPIM, CSCP, or CLTD preferred.
Experience Requirements
- 3–5 years of supply chain management experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership, supervisory, or coaching experience.
