Position Summary

The Technical Program Manager (TPM) – General Assembly is responsible for leading cross-functional programs that support the development, launch, and optimization of vehicle assembly operations. This role ensures successful integration of components into the general assembly process, driving program execution across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to meet timing, cost, and quality targets.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management & Execution

  • Lead end-to-end program management for general assembly-related initiatives, including new vehicle launches and process improvements
  • Develop and maintain integrated program schedules, ensuring alignment across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams
  • Track progress against key milestones and proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies
  • Ensure programs are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget

General Assembly & Manufacturing Integration

  • Coordinate integration of components and systems into the general assembly (GA) process, ensuring manufacturability and build feasibility
  • Partner with body, paint, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure seamless handoff into final assembly
  • Support development and validation of assembly processes, tooling, and line layouts
  • Drive resolution of build issues, fit concerns, and installation challenges during prototype and production phases
  • Ensure proper line balance, cycle time, and workflow optimization

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as the primary point of contact between engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations teams
  • Lead cross-functional meetings to align priorities, resolve issues, and drive execution
  • Influence stakeholders and drive decision-making in a fast-paced environment

Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, quality, and efficiency
  • Provide regular program updates to leadership, including risks, status, and mitigation plans
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize assembly processes and reduce cost
  • Utilize ERP, MES, and digital tools to improve program visibility and execution

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in program or project management within automotive manufacturing
  • Strong experience with general assembly processes (final assembly, installation, line operations)
  • Proven track record supporting vehicle launches and plant readiness

Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of general assembly operations, including line balancing, cycle times, and installation processes
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing systems (BIW, paint, and GA integration)
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, and structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Proficiency with program management tools and systems (MS Project, ERP/MES systems)
  • Ability to analyze production data and drive data-driven decisions
