Aegis is seeking a contractor to join our clients organization for at least 6 months with the opportunity to be converted to a FT employee at this company. **Aegis does offer benefits and accrued PTO on the contract. The ideal candidate has the following skills and experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related science field.
• 2+ years of experience working in molecular biology.
• 2 years of experience in a lab setting
• RNA sequencing experience- RNA extraction, library preparation, sequencing, data analysis, and visualization
• Need to be able to extract RNA from cells.
• Experience designing and executing molecular biology experiments to modify fungal genomes, including gene knockouts, knock-ins, overexpression studies, and gene editing.
• RT-PCR experience- technique used to amplify and detect RNA sequences by converting RNA into complementary DNA (cDNA) and then amplifying specific regions of the cDNA. It’s widely used for gene expression analysis, viral detection, and studying RNA modifications. (Qualitative results)
• Quantitative PCR (qPCR)- is a technique used to amplify and simultaneously quantify a targeted DNA or RNA molecule.
• Documentation experience- able to maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures, data, and outcomes.
• Experience with reporting- preparing internal reports and presentations summarizing findings for team meetings and external communications.

Nice to have:

• Masters degree Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related science field.
• Experience working in a YEAST lab setting would be very helpful.
