Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement control systems for melting, casting, and billet processing equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain existing automation systems to ensure high reliability, safety, and product quality across all production lines.
  • Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to optimize processes and improve system performance and uptime.
  • Program and support PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and HMIs (FactoryTalk, Wonderware, etc.).
  • Oversee integration of new equipment and technologies into existing control architecture.
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for control system issues.
  • Maintain documentation for all control systems, electrical schematics, and network architecture.
  • Support facility upgrades and capital projects involving automated systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards across all control applications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably metals or high-temperature processes.
  • Strong background in PLC/HMI/SCADA programming and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
  • Experience with VFDs, motor control centers, and process instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with remelting, casting, or high-temperature metals processing a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Preferred:

  • Previous work experience in the automotive industry or in an industrial/manufacturing engineering setting.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes, equipment, and controls.
  • Background in plant operations or direct operations support.
