Position Summary

The Production Engineer is responsible for supporting and optimizing manufacturing processes across machining and assembly operations. This role focuses on improving efficiency, quality, and throughput while supporting new product launches and ensuring stable, repeatable production processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and improve machining and assembly processes to meet production, quality, and cost targets
  • Support daily production operations by troubleshooting issues related to equipment, tooling, and process performance
  • Establish and maintain standard work instructions, cycle times, and process parameters
  • Analyze production data to identify opportunities for process improvement, waste reduction, and efficiency gains
  • Collaborate with quality teams to investigate non-conformances, scrap, and rework, and implement corrective actions
  • Support new product launches (NPI), including process development, line setup, and production readiness
  • Work with tooling and maintenance teams to ensure machine uptime, preventive maintenance, and tooling optimization
  • Improve line balance and workflow within assembly operations to maximize throughput
  • Assist in the design and implementation of fixtures, jigs, and error-proofing (poka-yoke) solutions
  • Support implementation of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • 2–5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with machining and/or assembly processes
  • Hands-on experience with machining, tooling, or assembly operations
  • Experience supporting process improvement and production troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving tools

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of machining processes (CNC milling, turning, drilling, cutting tools)
  • Experience with assembly processes, including manual and semi-automated lines
  • Knowledge of process optimization, cycle time reduction, and line balancing
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D)
  • Basic understanding of quality tools (SPC, control plans, FMEA preferred)
  • Proficiency in data analysis (Excel or similar tools)
