Controls & Software Technician (Contract)

Location: Asheville, NC

Duration: 9–12 months

Pay: $35–$45/hr

We are seeking a hands-on Controls & Software Technician to support software requirements, debugging, and testing within a mechatronic system environment. This is a contract role focused heavily on validation, troubleshooting, and working alongside engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support software requirements by assisting with debugging and test activities
• Troubleshoot and improve bench and test systems
• Work with engineering to ensure requirements are properly documented and supported
• Assist with integration of electronics, sensors, and components into systems
• Build and support system models and simulation efforts (V-model environment)
• Identify safety issues and help implement corrective actions
• Support system validation and performance testing

Technical Focus:

• Strong hands-on experience with testing equipment
• Communication protocols: LIN, SENT, CAN, MODBUS, PWM
• Controls and system-level troubleshooting (not a programming-heavy role)

Qualifications:

• Background in controls, automation, or mechatronics
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Experience working in test/validation environments
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering teams
