Senior Machinist
Education and Experience Requirements
– Minimum of a High School Diploma and 10 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
- Program and operate one or more fabricating machines to perform operations such as drilling, reaming, tapping, countersinking, punching, and other machining tasks within documented abilities.
- Read and execute job specifications accurately.
- Perform minor adjustments to machines as needed.
- Inspect completed work and rework piece part defects when required.
Inspection and Finishing
- Deburr parts to meet quality and inspection requirements.
- Sand parts as needed to meet specified quality standards.
- Wash parts according to job specifications.
Documentation and Recordkeeping
- Complete job-related recordkeeping, including:
- CAM file storage
- Employee time cards
- Machine time cards
Machine Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning and applying grease/oil to machines.
Programming and Setup
- Program and set up standard operations for 2-, 3-, 4-, and multi-axis machines.
Corrective Action
- Initiate and participate in Corrective Action Reports (CARs), including:
- Identifying errors and areas for improvement
- Participating in continuous improvement activities
- Approving CAR closures
- Following defined procedures for corrective actions and nonconforming product handling
Material Preparation
- Prepare stock material for jobs in accordance with production needs.
Workplace Organization (5S Activities)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in immediate and support work areas (e.g., saws, non-CNC machines).
Training Responsibilities
- Serve as a ‘Master’ trainer in areas identified by the Training Matrix, providing support and mentorship to other team members.
