Senior Buyer – Facilities Procurement

Position Overview

The Senior Buyer is responsible for developing and managing a strategic supply base to support manufacturing facility operations, construction projects, and maintenance activities. This role leads sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and contract management for facilities-related goods, services, and equipment while ensuring optimal cost, quality, and delivery.

The Senior Buyer works cross-functionally with Facilities, Engineering, Quality, EH&S, and Operations teams to ensure supplier readiness, mitigate risk, and support facility development and production timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for manufacturing facilities, construction, maintenance, and operational services.
  • Develop and manage a high-performing supplier base, including general contractors, specialty trades, equipment suppliers, and service providers.
  • Manage the full procurement lifecycle, including RFIs, RFQs, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Negotiate Master Service Agreements, construction contracts, and commercial agreements in alignment with company procurement policies and terms.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Facilities, Engineering, Quality, EH&S, and Manufacturing teams to support facility build-outs, equipment installations, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure supplier readiness and risk mitigation to support facility development and production launch timelines.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction and process improvement initiatives across facilities sourcing.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, cost, and service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, contractual obligations, and governance standards.
  • Support procurement processes within ERP and sourcing systems including supplier onboarding and data management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience within manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or construction environments.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing manufacturing facilities projects and services, including:
  • Construction projects and contractor management
  • Maintenance equipment and services
  • Facility infrastructure and capital equipment
  • MRO sourcing (preferred)
  • Experience negotiating construction contracts, service agreements, and commercial terms.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
  • Experience working with ERP or procurement systems (such as NetSuite, Zip, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms).
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
