Position Summary:
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting a strong safety culture, conducting incident investigations, and implementing corrective and preventive actions to reduce workplace risks. The EHS Specialist works closely with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to identify hazards, improve safety performance, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct incident, injury, and near-miss investigations to determine root causes and develop corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead or support root cause analysis using recognized investigation methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, or similar tools).
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Perform routine safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments within manufacturing operations.
- Track, analyze, and report safety performance metrics including incident rates and corrective actions.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training for employees, including onboarding and refresher training.
- Support emergency preparedness programs, drills, and response planning.
- Maintain required documentation and records related to incidents, training, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with supervisors and employees to proactively identify hazards and implement effective controls.
- Participate in safety committees and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience conducting safety incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
- Experience performing safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar reporting tools.
