This role serves as the primary on-site electrical expert, supporting day‑to‑day technical needs while also driving major capital projects, equipment installations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot, review, and modify PLC code (primarily Allen‑Bradley; ladder logic required).
- Verify customer electrical requirements, validate safety circuits, and support machine startup and commissioning (FAT/SAT).
- Assess electrical power needs, including transformer/switchgear capacity and system compatibility.
- Interpret, update, and generate electrical schematics and single-line diagrams.
- Collaborate with maintenance, internal design teams, service providers, and equipment suppliers to specify, integrate, and install custom industrial machinery.
- Support capital project execution from concept through installation, testing, and handoff.
- Work with high-voltage and three-phase power systems (training provided for any voltage-specific gaps).
Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field OR 10–15+ years of relevant industry experience (PLC Programmer, Automation Technician, Electrician, etc.).
- 5+ years of Electrical Engineering experience in a production environment, machine building, custom equipment, or heavy industrial machinery.
- Strong electrical design experience
- Experience supporting equipment maintenance, capital projects, or system installations.
- Strong background in PLC-controlled systems, automated equipment, and industrial controls.
- Proficiency interpreting and modifying electrical schematics.
- Direct experience reviewing, editing, or troubleshooting PLC code (Allen Bradley preferred).
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, including 3-phase and 480V power, conveyors, automated cells, and complex machinery.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Ability to write PLC programs from scratch (strongly preferred but not required).
- Understanding of hydraulic systems and electro‑mechanical integration.
- Experience with electrical system design from concept through build.
- CAPEX exposure—budgets, timelines, customer/supplier communication, and technical documentation.
