Aegis has partnered with a manufacturing company in the Madison, IN area who is looking to add an Accounting Manager to their team!

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations within a manufacturing environment, including cost accounting, inventory controls, financial reporting, and month-end close. This role ensures accurate financial data to support operational decision-making and drives compliance with GAAP and internal controls. The ideal candidate has strong experience in manufacturing accounting, standard costing, and ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR oversight, payroll coordination, and fixed assets
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Oversee cost accounting functions including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
  • Analyze manufacturing variances (labor, material, overhead) and partner with operations to drive cost improvements
  • Maintain and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Reconcile inventory and support cycle counts and physical inventory processes
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and KPI dashboards
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
  • Support audits (internal and external) and tax filings
  • Lead and develop accounting staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of standard costing and inventory accounting
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, NetSuite, etc.)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in high-volume or multi-site manufacturing
  • Experience working closely with plant operations leadership
  • Background in lean manufacturing environments
  • Exposure to SOX compliance (if applicable)

Work Environment

  • Office setting within a manufacturing facility
  • Occasional time spent on production floor for inventory and operational support
