Aegis is seeking a Director of Procurement to join our client's organization in Chicago IL. (60619). The ideal candidate has the following skills and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience working in procurement/supply chain
• At least 3 years of experience in a leadership/management position
• Experience managing teams with at least 2 direct reports.
• Experience working for a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy industry environment. (steel would be ideal)
• Able to work cross functionally across many departments
• Experience working within the highest level of budgeting and big-ticket purchases. (roughly $100M-250M – for this it can be lower priced items but, overall budgets could range 500,000-one million+)
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills
• Deep understanding of strategic sourcing, supplier performance management, and cost analysis
• Experience with MRO, capital equipment, and production material sourcing
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and procurement software.
• Financial acumen with ability to analyze total cost of ownership and budget impacts (Vlooks and pivot tables – strong analytical person would be helpful).
• Able to present data and findings in front of the team.
• Proven ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational execution
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

Nice to have:

• Able to speak French.
• Steel manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading negotiations for large purchases.
