Business

At Rhoda AI, we're building the full-stack foundation for the next generation of humanoid robots — from high-performance, software-defined hardware to the foundational models and video world models that control it. Our robots are designed to be generalists capable of operating in complex, real-world environments and handling scenarios unseen in training. We work at the intersection of large-scale learning, robotics, and systems, with a research team that includes researchers from Stanford, Berkeley, Harvard, and beyond. We're not building a feature; we're building a new computing platform for physical work — and with over $400M raised, we're investing aggressively in the R&D, hardware development, and manufacturing scale-up to make that a reality.

The Role

This role will have ownership over critical accounting functions and oversee accounting consultants who support day-to-day operations. The position reports directly to the Controller.

This is a rare opportunity to help build and strengthen the accounting function at a fast-growing startup. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, brings a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP, and is excited to establish scalable processes and controls that will support the company’s next phase of growth

What You'll Do

  • Own the monthly and quarterly close processes

  • Review and oversee the day-to-day work of outside accounting consultants, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliverables

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for management review

  • Author technical accounting memos and own the adoption of accounting standards

  • Establish accounting policies and procedures around revenue, operating vs. sales-type leases, costs to originate/fulfill contracts, and software development costs

  • Draft annual financial statements and serve as a primary liaison with external auditors

  • Assist with payroll preparation and submission

  • Assist with establishing and accounting for international subsidiaries

  • Establish processes around customer invoicing and collections

  • Ensure tax compliance and timely filings at the federal, state, and local levels

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with the FP&A team

  • Identify and implement opportunities for systems and process optimization across the finance function

  • Support the Controller on ad hoc financial analyses, projects, and strategic initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • 7+ years of Big 4 experience or 10+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP principles and their practical application

Nice To Have (But Not Required)

  • Active CPA license

  • Demonstrated proficiency/experience in technical accounting or financial reporting

  • Experience with accounting for development costs of generative AI software

  • Experience with accounting for sales-type leases or robotics as a service

  • Experience with accounting for manufacturing, installation of and servicing equipment

  • Experience with accounting for cloud computing arrangements

  • Proficiency with accounting software, especially systems implementations

  • Prior IPO experience

  • Demonstrated passion for process optimization
