About the team: The Cell Pilot Production team is responsible implementing and scaling production of the QuantumScape cell.

Description:

Quantumscape is seeking a motivated Senior Cell Manufacturing Engineer for our Pilot Production team. You will be responsible for stacking and packaging our novel cell design with considerable authority over yield and productivity and a key member of the team that scales Quantumscape’s unique technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and improve processes for stacking, welding and packaging pouch cells.

  • Lead and influence production teams of technicians and process engineers to improve process techniques and resolve issues that arise on the line

  • Engage in line development activities with a focus on improving yield and reducing variation

  • Resolve production problems by analyzing data and identifying solutions with a bias towards action

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to define and release equipment for higher volume production

  • Support process documentation, training and mentorship of team members

  • Maintain a particle free and safe process in an ISO 6 Dry Room

  • Ensure safety is prioritized and EHS policies are met

Minimum Requirements

  • M.S. in chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, materials science, or a related field and 3+ years professional experience; or B.S. and 5+ years experience. Preferably working in electrochemistry or battery materials.

  • Experience improving yield and reliability for high volume products

  • Exposure to high volume battery manufacturing equipment and processes

  • Fluent in lean Six Sigma principles and experienced in applying at the pilot or production scale.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and line management tools, MES/SCADA systems

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry experience in lithium-ion batteries

  • Experience working in cleanroom environments

This position is required to perform these above essential duties and responsibilities onsite at our QS offices.

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role is between $123,700 and $198,000 and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other exciting perks.
