Natron Energy is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to implement, enhance, and manage the company’s EHS programs aligned with corporate initiatives.
In this role, the EHS Manager will lead the site’s program development and build a safety-focused culture, to maintain a high-performance safe workplace. He or she will collaborate with senior leadership on EHS initiatives including facilities support, equipment installations, process builds, high power/high voltage electronics, , employee training and KPI reporting.
This person has significant prior experience as an EHS manager with working knowledge of establishing and maintaining EHS and workplace safety programs for an organization that operates electronics and/or chemistry labs. He or she has the prior experience and communication skills needed to coordinate effectively with local regulatory agencies.
This position will report to the EHS Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and maintain regulatory compliance related to site permitting, hazardous waste operations, chemical management, equipment installation and operation, respiratory equipment use, and related employee training.
  • Assist with the development of EHS Natron Energy's facility standards, through participation in the build of work instructions, process hazard analysis, pre-start safety reviews, etc.
  • Act as an onsite consultant to promote a safety culture and health protection at all levels of management and frontline employees. Maintain a point of presence on the manufacturing floor, identifying risk and providing opportunities for improvement.
  • Seek continuous improvement by developing training and coaching materials, editing existing safety programs, and performing internal EHS audits to maintain a high level of adherence.
  • Oversight of contractor safety activity including the use of safe work permits, routine area inspections, and ensuring completion of pre-qualification evaluation.
  • Maintain relevant safety training certifications of relevance to the company’s operations, schedule and coordinate employee safety training programs.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce the number and severity of occupational incidents.
  • Develop the facility's emergency preparedness including but not limited to the development of an emergency response team for chemical, fire, medical, security, etc., events.
  • Lead Learning Teams and Significant Criteria investigations to analyze incidents, near misses reviews, and property damage, ensuring tracking and timely reporting of the corrective and preventative actions.
  • Coordinate with senior leadership on EHS programs including training, audits, and compliance.
  • Work closely with regulatory agencies to promote a relationship based on trust, openness, and transparency.
  • Manage special projects with the support of professional consulting services, prequalified contractors, and medical clinic support.
  • Proactively and systematically assess EHS risks and develop and implement cost-efficient solutions.
  • Act as the liaison for facility regulatory matters.
  • Responsible for timely submission of reports and permits, payment of fees, etc.
  • Conduct or coordinate industrial hygiene activity.
  • Coordinate with contractors for training, inspections, and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain EHS-related databases including training records and SDS database.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in a scientific area or environmental, health and safety.
  • Ten (10+) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally including at least one chemical production/processing or high-power electronics development and operation.
  • Expert knowledge of local and national codes and standards for OHS and other workplace safety requirements.
  • Problem-solving—demonstrated problem solving ability to assist teams meet their KPIs.
  • Collaborative efforts— Inspire others to establish essential safe operating habits.
  • Expert knowledge of chemical safety hazards and safety risks analysis (HAZOP, etc.)
  • Prior experience acting as their employer’s primary representative to local AHJs and EHS-related contractors for employee training, hazardous waste disposal, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence decisions.
  • Verbal communication skills and temperament that allow successful coordination with senior leadership and the ability to establish and maintain employee compliance.
  • Proficient with MS products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Preferred: membership in EHS professional associations and/or active licenses/certifications in EHS programs.
  • Professionally represent Natron Energy.

Logistics:

  • This is a full-time 100% on-site position in Santa Clara, CA
  • Health & Safety certifications preferred (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM).
  • Ability to travel 5% of the time (initial onboarding is at the company's California HQ).
  • Compensation is consistent with similar positions at other local Manufacturing organizations.

Compensation/Pay Transparency:

  • In addition, Natron Energy has a strong benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Plan with Match, Life Insurance, Parental Leave Benefits, Discretionary Time Off (DTO) and Paid Time Off (PTO) for Exempt and Non-Exempt employees respectively, and 11 paid holidays.
  • The salary range for this position is a minimum of 108,000-147,000 DOE
