Be part of something incredible. Metals are necessary for our world, but mining historically faced issues with waste, sustainability, and inefficiencies. MineSense is changing that. Our solutions reduce mining waste and environmental impacts while increasing profits and efficiencies. Backed by the best in venture capital and government funds, and recognized by tech industry and sustainability programs, MineSense is doing what many said could not be done: improving mining for people and planet.
We are looking to add a Senior Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in vibration, dynamics, and environment characterization to our team in Vancouver, British Columbia. In this role, you will lead the analysis, simulation, testing, and design of mechanical systems operating under extreme dynamic loads, shocks, and vibration environments found in global mining operations. You will also be working with multi discipline engineers and cross functional groups on product design, development, and manufacture. Along with product development, you will perform research and development of new technologies and products that can be implemented in future products.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead vibration data acquisition, instrumentation, and field measurement programs at mine sites.
  • Analyze vibration and shock signals (FFT, PSD, SRS, modal analysis, filtering, time series analysis) to characterize dynamic environments.
  • Build and run dynamic FEA models (modal, harmonic, random vibration, transient, explicit shock) and correlate results with field data.
  • Develop vibration and shock profiles, system limits, and design criteria for extreme mining environments.
  • Design mechanical components and assemblies for high vibration, impact, and abrasive conditions.
  • Lead development of vibration isolation, damping, and shock mitigation solutions.
  • Translate product requirements into engineering specifications, acceptance criteria, test plans, and validation procedures.
  • Plan and execute lab testing using vibration tables, shakers, shock rigs, and custom fixtures.
  • Conduct field testing, commissioning, and performance evaluation under operational dynamic loads.
  • Analyze test results, prepare engineering reports, and drive design improvements for reliability.
  • Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, and BOMs in SolidWorks; manage changes through the ERP system.
  • Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, software, firmware, data science, field services, supply chain, and manufacturing.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building MineSense’s vibration and dynamics technical capability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters or PhD preferred).
  • Generally, 4-6 or more years of experience in mechanical design and product development with a strong focus on vibration and dynamics.
  • Demonstrated expertise in vibration data analysis and signal processing (FFT, PSD, SRS, modal analysis, filtering, time series feature extraction).
  • Hands-on experience in instrumenting systems, collecting field vibration data, and correlating results with simulation.
  • Strong background in dynamic FEA, including modal, harmonic, random vibration, transient, and shock analysis.
  • Experience designing for harsh environments involving high vibration, impact, abrasion, or load variability.
  • Proficient with ANSYS and SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools.
  • Strong understanding of material behaviour under dynamic loading, fatigue, and impact.
  • Experience with DFMEAs, RCA, DVP&R, and durability testing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience leading and mentoring engineers.
  • Experience with LS-DYNA, or similar explicit dynamics solvers
  • Understanding/hands on experience in operating Electrodynamic shaker table and environmental chamber.
  • Experience with mining, heavy machinery, oil and gas, aerospace, or extreme-environment equipment.
  • Experience with vibration-based fault detection and diagnosis at the component level (signal-based condition monitoring, feature extraction, pattern recognition.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
