We are looking to add an experienced Senior II Electrical Engineer to our Product Development team in Vancouver. Reporting to the Manager-Controls, the role involves providing expert-level technical guidance, leading the development and validation of complex electrical systems, and ensuring project success by overseeing collaboration with cross-functional teams. The individual will also manage design projects, mentor peers, and ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices, while mitigating risks and driving the implementation of innovative solutions. An ideal candidate will be a detail oriented self-starter that enjoys developing innovative solutions.

Job Description:

  • Regularly conducts peer reviews for reports, designs, and drawings to ensure adherence to MineSense best practices
  • Provides expert-level technical guidance and coaching to multi-disciplinary coworkers and fellow engineers by connecting technical expertise to business outcomes
  • Oversees collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams and senior management and delegates tasks to ensure project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards
  • Manages all electrical/electronic related elements in the Bill of Materials (BOMs) for projects
  • Oversees and delegates the documentation of projects/shares findings with cross-functional team members, management, and others (e.g. manufacturers) with no supervision
  • Collaborates with engineering and company leaders to develop key metrics that will measure project and team success
  • Leads the development and implementation of testing and verification plans to validate complex key electrics system designs and ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Mitigates highly complex system issues, proposes solutions, and leads implementation
  • Supervises the installation, inspection, and maintenance of highly complex key electrical systems in the field
  • Uses expert-level proficiency of technologies and tools used on the team, constantly stays up-to-date on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in electrical engineering and the mining industry
  • Often leads multiple or large-scale design projects for key electrical systems to be used in MineSense products or processes
  • Oversees system power flow calculations and sizing including protection, coordination study, power isolation and control elements using MineSense best practice and CEC standards
  • Leads the transfer of design intentions of often highly complex projects to drawings/sketches and analyzes technical risk, offers solution(s) to mitigate risks and leads implementation
  • Leads the development of system and sub-system units and acts as subject matter to evaluate the suitability for the application, use, and system integration
  • Approves reports, designs, and drawings while ensuring adherence to company best practices
  • Additional duties as occasionally required by your manager.

Qualifications:

  • Generally, 6-10+ years of experience in an electrical, electronics, or relevant discipline.
  • Generally, a 4-year degree (PhD or master's preferred) in a relevant electrical discipline. I.e. Control Systems, Electrical, Electronics, or similar.
  • Experience with High Voltage power supplies and X-ray applications is an asset (nice to have)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Experience working in Microsoft 365.
  • Health & Safety conscious individual.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.
The salary offered to the successful candidate will be based on their experience, knowledge and skills they bring to MineSense, market data based on their location as well as internal equity. Keeping this mind, the salary offered can be outside of the range posted. We are looking for talented folks at all levels, so please do not hesitate to apply.
