Description

The Senior Compensation Analyst will support People Operations’ delivery of innovative compensation programs that align with our company’s values and growth. You will have the opportunity to evolve and enhance our compensation structures to remain competitive and equitable. This role will play a key part on the People Operations team, which offers practical advice, innovative tools, and solutions to advance our company’s mission and support our employees’ experience, development, and well-being. The Senior Compensation Analyst reports to the Senior Director, People Operations.

Responsibilties

  • Compensation Program Design & Management: Contribute to the design and evolution of compensation programs, including base pay structures, incentive plans, and recognition programs, that support organizational objectives and foster employee engagement for both salaried and hourly employees, across different geographies, industries, and schedules/rotations.
  • Market Analysis & Benchmarking: Conduct market research and participate in compensation surveys to analyze industry trends. Assess the competitiveness of the company’s salary structure and recommend adjustments as needed. Utilize advanced tools and methodologies to conduct in-depth analysis of compensation trends, competitive positioning, and pay equity considerations.
  • Consultation & Communication: Serve as a subject matter expert on compensation-related matters, providing guidance and support to People Operations and business leaders on compensation policies, practices, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with People Operations and hiring managers to establish competitive salary ranges for new hires, promotions, and internal transfers, and provide recommendations for salary adjustments as needed. Create and present education and communication materials regarding our compensation and equity programs for managers and employees.
  • Job Analysis & Evaluation: Lead job evaluations, including job descriptions, grading, and titling reviews. Ensure alignment with internal hierarchies and external benchmarks.
  • Data Analytics & Reporting: Conduct in-depth analyses to support compensation decisions and strategies. Conduct pay equity analyses to identify and address any disparities in compensation. Create and maintain dashboards and reports on compensation metrics, trends, and pay equity. Prepare and present reports on compensation metrics and trends, assist in the preparation of compensation budgets and forecasts.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compensation practices comply with federal, state, and local laws (e.g., FLSA, Wage & Hour, pay transparency laws). Stay informed of changing compensation regulations and trends.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Relevant certification (e.g., CCP, PHR, SPHR) preferred
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in compensation analysis or a related field, with demonstrated expertise in compensation program design, market pricing, and job evaluation methodologies
  • A deep passion for people and culture and building organizations around their greatest asset – their people
  • A self-starter attitude and the ability to accomplish expected tasks under minimal supervision
  • Comfort with ambiguity, the ability to adapt to change, and understand complex concepts and make reasoned decisions with sometimes-imperfect data
  • Strong analytical and excel skills with the ability to effectively interpret data and create meaningful, understandable models, reports, and metrics
  • Experience with compensation surveys and ability to translate data into easily understandable and applicable programming
  • In-depth knowledge of labor regulations (e.g., FLSA, Wage & Hour, pay transparency laws)
  • Strong interpersonal skills (verbal, written and presentation)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on strategic compensation initiatives
  • Experience working within high-growth organizations
  • Experience using Paylocity (HRIS) and Pequity (Compensation Management System)

Location

Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX, with growing offices in Golden, CO, Reno, NV, and Oakland, CA, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at the Houston office will be required.
