Description
The Grant Administrator will be responsible for preparing technical reports, budget management, coordinating with partners to integrate their reports, managing invoice submissions, and serving as the primary contact for communications with funding agencies. This role is essential for supporting Fervo Energy’s strategic goals through effective grant management and fostering collaboration among stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering, science, project management, and grant proposal writing. This role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of conveying complex technical concepts and research findings to write technical reports, manage multiple partners to achieve the project goals on schedule and on budget, and write new grant proposals. The candidate will work closely with the principal investigator (PI) at Fervo Energy and PIs from universities, national laboratories, and other government agencies. Fervo was recently awarded a $25 million grant from the Department of Energy Geothermal Technologies Office and is currently managing several grants from other funding agencies including the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative, the Utah Frontier Observatory for Research in Geothermal Energy, and the Department of Energy Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Fervo technical reports. Coordinate with partners to integrate their technical reports into Fervo’s reports and submit them to funding agencies. Collaborate with Fervo’s supply chain and accounting teams to collect and submit relevant invoices for grant reimbursement.
- Lead the setup of kickoff and subsequent meetings with all external partners for new grants.
- Preside over regular meetings with external partners to monitor the technical progress of the grant. Serve as the primary contact for all communications regarding the DOE EGS Demo grant.
- Identify funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other organizations. Lead the development and submission of high-quality grant proposals, collaborating with research teams to understand project goals and methodologies.
- Oversee multiple grant projects, ensuring timely submission of documents and maintaining accurate records of submissions, awards, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in an academic or research environment, or a master’s degree in the above disciplines.
- Proven track record in writing research proposals and reports with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be fluent in English.
- Experience in facilitating team communications and providing detailed feedback on project proposals.
Location
Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX with growing offices Golden, CO, Reno, NV, Salt Lake City and Oakland, CA. This position is open to the Golden or Houston office.
