Description

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the development of a greenfield power plant and associated gathering systems. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project, from initial planning and budgeting to execution and successful commissioning.   The position will be based in Fervo Energy’s principal office in Houston, Texas and will require travel to various field locations, fabrication facilities, and engineering contractor offices. The Project Manager will report to the Director of Surface Facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the power plant project and its milestones from initiation through completion, including coordination of proposals and associated agreements in EPC, Operation & Maintenance, and electricity sales
  • Act as the primary project advocate and point of communication, effectively communicating with project teams, stakeholders, including vendors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure successful execution of complex projects
  • Assemble project plans and assign teamwork, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis
  • Manage project resources to deliver client deliverables on time and on budget as dictated by project scope and schedule
  • Identify and resolve problems or issues related to design information, schedule, material deliveries, change management, safety, and quality in collaboration with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction
  • Serve as the key resource for executive management advisory on overall project health and manage escalated problems or issues
  • Drive for the successful completion of assigned projects and technical initiatives while enhancing program and project management practices and team capabilities
  • Manage one or more cross-functional projects of medium to high complexity
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering their professional development and growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Minimum 10 years of direct project management experience in developing small-scale power plants, preferably in North America, with expertise in heat recovery programs
  • Strong knowledge and experience in project management, project controls, construction management, and power plant design, development, or commissioning
  • Ability to manage multiple remote resources and coordinate activities across multiple offices and business partners
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and positively influence a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Expert knowledge in creating business requirements, work plans, project schedules, and associated project artifacts
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and permitting processes related to geothermal power generation
  • Must have previous supervisory experience; Experience mentoring and coaching team members, fostering their professional development and growth
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration, or relevant field
  • Preferred: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent
  • Preferred: Experience in ORC power plant technology design, construction, or optimization 
  • Preferred: Proven track record of successfully delivering projects within budget and schedule constraints
  • Preferred: Strong negotiation and contract management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Preferred: Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices and principles related to energy projects
