Part-Time Field Support Contractor - Western Nebraska
Sales & Business Development, Customer Service
North Platte, NE, USA
Arable is looking for a part-time contractor based in or near North Platte, Nebraska, or farther west to provide field support for our growing customer and project footprint across western Nebraska.
This is a flexible, field-oriented position intended to provide additional local support to Arable’s Customer Success team. Hours will vary depending on seasonal and project needs, with opportunities to assist with field work this fall and an anticipated greater need for support during the 2027 growing season.
Regular driving throughout the region will be required.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who knows agriculture, enjoys working outdoors, is comfortable with technology, and can be a dependable local resource for our team and customers.
This could be a great fit for someone with experience as a grower, farm manager, crop consultant, agronomy professional, irrigation specialist, ag technician, or recent agriculture graduate who is interested in flexible, part-time work.
You do not need to come from a traditional Customer Success background. Practical agricultural experience, reliability, good communication skills, and a willingness to learn Arable’s technology are most important.
What We Do
At Arable, our mission is to connect the world’s farms to optimize the global food system.
We provide field-level data and insights that help growers and agricultural partners make better-informed decisions about water use, crop management, and agricultural operations.
Our technology combines in-field sensing, weather, crop, and irrigation data to give customers a better understanding of what is happening across their fields.
Your Role
As a Part-Time Field Support Contractor, you will work closely with Arable’s Customer Success team to provide hands-on support for customers and projects throughout western Nebraska.
Much of the work will take place directly in agricultural fields and may include installing and maintaining Arable equipment, checking devices, troubleshooting basic field issues, supporting customer visits, and helping ensure projects are operating smoothly.
You will have support from Arable’s broader Customer Success and technical teams and will not be expected to manage the full customer relationship independently.
What you will do:
Assist with the installation, setup, maintenance, and removal of Arable field devices.
Visit customer fields to inspect equipment and confirm devices are operating properly.
Perform basic troubleshooting and coordinate with Arable’s Customer Success or technical teams when additional support is needed.
Assist with seasonal field activities, project setup, and other customer-support needs.
Communicate with growers, farm managers, and project partners while representing Arable professionally in the field.
Provide updates, photos, field observations, and other information to the Arable team following site visits.
Help identify potential field issues and communicate them quickly to the appropriate team member.
Support members of Arable’s Customer Success team during larger installations, maintenance projects, or periods of increased field activity.
Participate in training on Arable products, technology, and field procedures.
Travel throughout western Nebraska as project needs require.
You’re a Great Fit If You Have:
Experience in agriculture, farming, agronomy, irrigation, crop consulting, agricultural technology, or a related field.
Familiarity with Nebraska agriculture and farming practices, particularly in western Nebraska.
A practical, hands-on approach and comfort working independently in agricultural field environments.
Basic technical aptitude and the ability to learn how to install, maintain, and troubleshoot field technology.
Strong reliability, communication, and problem-solving skills.
The ability to communicate comfortably and professionally with growers and farm managers.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the region.
The ability to safely work outdoors in varying weather conditions and access agricultural fields and equipment.
Flexibility to work varying hours based on seasonal and project needs.
A degree in agriculture, agronomy, crop science, agricultural engineering, or a related field is helpful but not required if you have relevant practical experience.
Schedule
This is a part-time, contract position with variable hours based on seasonal and project needs.
This role may be especially well suited for someone looking for flexible or supplemental work rather than a full-time position.
Why Work With Arable
You’ll have the opportunity to work with growers and agricultural projects in your local area while gaining experience with technology focused on improving agricultural productivity, water efficiency, and sustainability.
You’ll also work closely with an experienced Customer Success team while maintaining the flexibility of a part-time field-based position.
