AMP is hiring a Junior Mechanical Engineer in Louisville, CO, with a weekly mix of in-office and work from home days.

In this role, the Junior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for design, fabrication, documentation and testing of prototype and production parts for AMP’s recycling technology and facilities.

As a Junior Mechanical Engineer at AMP, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work closely with a small engineering team to design and develop autonomous waste handling systems.
  • Own mechanical designs from initial concept through prototyping, testing, and release to production, with mentorship and design review support from senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop products, where hardware and software elements must work together to achieve desired results.
  • Assist with the transition of prototypes to scaled production, ensuring seamless integration of novel recycling technologies.
  • Orchestrate tests based on defined metrics and success criteria, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Document designed parts and assemblies, allowing for accurate fabrication, assembly, and installation.
  • Communicate effectively across engineering and non-engineering disciplines, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Travel to AMP’s facilities around the country and assist with upgrade and optimization activities.

The successful candidate will have:

Requirements:

  • 1 - 3 years of industry experience in mechanical engineering roles, with a strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in CAD design, with experience in SolidWorks.
  • Strong hands-on skills for building and testing prototypes, with a keen ability to learn complicated concepts quickly.
  • Eagerness to learn, with a driven mindset to succeed in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Ability to persevere through challenges and demonstrate reliability in meeting project deadlines.
  • Team-oriented approach with excellent communication skills and a willingness to take ownership of projects.
  • Strong alignment with AMP’s mission with a passion for the environment and recycling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 - 3 years of industrial equipment or machine automation experience.
  • Experience working with large industrial equipment, such as material recovery facilities (MRFs).
  • Knowledge or experience with robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence.
  • Previous involvement in startup environments and a track record of contributing to their success.
  • Foundational knowledge of FEA and/or CFD Analysis.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent combination of technical experience and work experience.

Salary & Compensation Information: $90,000 - $100,000 per year

Equity Grant: The candidate selected for this role will be recommended for a stock option grant commensurate with the position and the candidate’s qualifications.
